Reason Slavery Became a Culture
There was a reason slavery became part of the culture in the South. The reason was that Americans needed people to work in the fields, so they made the slaves work. The slaves worked at producing crops, mostly tobacco. Eventually, they were forced to grow lots of cotton. Since cotton was becoming more popular, land owners made more cotton plantations, which needed more slaves.
