Role Christianity Has
Slaves did not have much time for religion. They sometimes had one free day. Most masters made their slaves work on Sundays. Owners would not want slaves to have religious beliefs, because they believed it would make the slaves think they were equal to the whites. Although that was the case, some slaves would create secret religious groups. They would secretly meet outside of the plantation, beyond the range of slave patrols.
